Paraburnetia sneeubergensis
Taxonomy
Paraburnetia sneeubergensis was named by Smith et al. (2006) [Distinguished from other burnetiamorphs by the
following autapomorphies: squamosal with supratemporal ‘horn’
oriented vertically with bulbous terminal end, supraorbital boss
with well-defined apical crest, and palatine-pterygoid boss very
elongate.]. Its type specimen is SAM-PK-K10037, a skull ( complete skull with lower jaw), and it is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Walplaas, which is in a Wuchiapingian fine channel fill siltstone in the Teekloof Formation of South Africa. It is the type species of Paraburnetia.
