Hosieocrinus was named by Wright (1952) [Sepkoski's age data: C Vise-u Sepkoski's reference number: 906]. It is not extant. Its type is Tribrachyocrinus caledonicus.
It was assigned to Phanocrinidae by Ubaghs et al. (1978), Arendt (1981); and to Cladida by Sepkoski (2002).
