Taxonomy
Terebratula octoplicata was named by Sowerby (1816). It is the type species of Cretirhynchia (Lewesirhynchia).

It was recombined as Cretirhynchia octoplicata by Pettitt (1950); it was recombined as Cretirhynchia (Lewesirhynchia) octoplicata by Simon and Owen (2001).
