Taxonomy
Cretirhynchia intermedia was named by Pettitt (1950). Its type specimen is B.M. [B.92723] and is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is East Harnham (Actinocamax quadratus zone), which is in a Campanian carbonate chalk in the Upper Chalk Formation of the United Kingdom. It is the type species of Cretirhynchia (Harmignirhynchia).

It was recombined as Cretirhynchia (Harmignirhynchia) intermedia by Simon and Owen (2001).
