Taxonomy
Platychonia was named by Zittel (1878) [Sepkoski's age data: J Plie T Mi]. It is not extant. It is the type genus of Platychoniidae.

It was assigned to Lithistida by Sepkoski (2002); and to Platychoniidae by Finks et al. (2004).
