Taxonomy
Cymatoceras colombiana was named by Durham (1946). Its type specimen is UCMP 35728, a shell, and it is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Locality A, between El Valle and Payandé, which is in an Aptian marine shale in Colombia.
