Pleroma was named by Sollas (1888) [Sepkoski's age data: T Eo-u R]. It is extant. It is the type genus of Pleromatinae, Pleromatidae.
It was assigned to Lithistida by Sepkoski (2002); and to Pleromatinae by Finks et al. (2004).
