---|---|---|
M. Bilotta 2010 | Compressed platycone form; very evolute and scarcely overlapping inner whorls, evolute outer whorls with oval or elliptic to sub-rectangular whorl section. Rounded and elevated ventral area. The ornamentation is clearly visible both on the test and on the internal mould: it is formed by thin but very strong and well-marked lateral ribs, more or less sigmoidal; they fade crossing the venter, tending to form a
chevron, whereas on the ventro-lateral edge moderatelydeveloped cuneiform tubercle-spines are sometimes visible. The inner whorls have round section, they are smooth or with thin and slightly sigmoidal striae, and sometimes they show a short initial stage characterized by very weak prorsiradiate constrictions. Pseudoceratitic suture line, with monophyllic saddles and denticulate lobe endings; E shifted from the middle of the whorl and slightly longer than L, which has two or three terminal denticles; U2 as large as L or a little less; small but usually non tooth-like U3; LS1 saddle nearly as large as ES, but usually more advanced than this latter; sub-lituid I lobe |
