Taxonomy
Plaxocrinus was named by Moore and Plummer (1937) [Sepkoski's age data: C Bash P Wc]. It is not extant. Its type is Plaxocrinus crassidiscus.

It was assigned to Pirasocrinidae by Pabian and Rushlau (2002); and to Cladida by Sepkoski (2002).
