Polyrhipidium was named by Schrammen (1924) [Sepkoski's age data: K Sn]. It is not extant. Its type is Polyrhipidium cristagalli.

It was assigned to Phymaraphiniidae by Lagneau-Herenger (1962); and to Lithistida by Sepkoski (2002).
