Nautilus drepanensis was named by Tagliarini (1901). It is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Fontana Difali, Monte Erice (Gemmellaro collection), which is in a Toarcian/Aalenian carbonate limestone in Italy.
It was recombined as Pseudaganides drepanensis by Kummel (1956).
