Strongylocrinus was named by Wanner (1916) [Sepkoski's age data: C Bash-u P Guad-u]. It is not extant.

It was assigned to Cladida by Sepkoski (2002); and to Mollocrinidae by Moore and Strimple (1973), Ubaghs et al. (1978), Webster and Webster (2012).
