Taxonomy
Stephanoceras transatlanticus was named by Tornquist (1898). It is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Espinazito Pass, which is in a Bajocian marine sandstone in Argentina.

It was recombined as Pseudotoites transatlanticus by Arkell (1954); it was recombined as Pseudotoites (Pseudotoites) transatlanticus by Westermann (1969).
