Taxonomy
Goniatites praematurus was named by Barrande (1877). It is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Svagerka, Praha-Zlichov, which is in an Emsian carbonate limestone in the Zlichov Formation of Czechia.
It was recombined as Celaeceras praematurum by Chlupac and Turek (1983), Korn and Klug (2002).
