Paraphyllites tabuloides

Taxonomy
Goniatites tabuloides was named by Barrande (1865). It is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Praha-Hlubocepy (upper Trebotov limestone, Dalejan), which is in an Emsian carbonate limestone in the Trebotov Formation of Czechia. It is the type species of Paraphyllites.

It was recombined as Agoniatites (Paraphyllites) tabuloides by Chlupac and Turek (1983); it was recombined as Paraphyllites tabuloides by Hyatt (1900), Korn and Klug (2002).

A. Hyatt 1900Dorsum of this involute form is entirely occupied by a large azygous lobe terminating in a minute annular lobe and partial cone similar to that observed in Nautiloids and Pinnacites. The inner extension or cone is not present elsewhere among Ammonoids so far as known. Devonian.
