Trinalicrinus was named by Lane (1979) [Sepkoski's age data: P Guad Sepkoski's reference number: 244]. Its type is Trinalicrinus tunisiensis.

It was assigned to Sagenocrinida by Sepkoski (2002); and to Mespilocrinidae by Lane (1979), Webster and Webster (2012).
