Lucilla miocaenica was named by Harzhauser et al. (2015). It is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Torino Hill, Moncucco Torinese, "facies à Congeria", M7+80, which is in a Messinian deep subtidal marl in the facies à Congeria Formation of Italy.
