Taxonomy
Sauropus unguifer was named by Dawson (1872). It is considered to be a form taxon. It is the type species of Pseudobradypus.
It was recombined as Palaeosauropus unguifer by Hay (1902); it was recombined as Pseudobradypus unguifer by Matthew (1903), Matthew (1904), Hay (1930) and Haubold (1971).
