Streptosolen was named by Ulrich and Everett (1889) [Sepkoski's age data: O Llvi O Ashg-m]. It is not extant. It is the type genus of Streptosolenidae.
It was assigned to Lithistida by Sepkoski (2002); and to Streptosolenidae by Johns (1994), Finks et al. (2004).
