Taxonomy
Ascoceras anticostiense was named by Billings (1866) [= Ascoceras newberryi Billings (only the part referring to Junction cliff or Ellis Bay specimen), Pal. Foss. 1, Geol. Surv., Canada, 1868, p. 163, fig. 148b (not 148a);].

It was recombined as Billingsites anticostiensis by Twenhofel (1928).
