Brachychirotherium circaparvum
Taxonomy
Brachychirotherium circaparvum was named by Demathieu (1971). It is considered to be a form taxon. Its type specimen is 21.1 BK2, a footprint, and it is a trace fossil. Its type locality is Chasselay tracksite, level C (BQ), which is in an Anisian/Ladinian terrestrial horizon in the Grès Inférieurs du Lyonnais Formation of France.

G. Demathieu 1971 | Diagnose. — Empreintepentadactyle (84 x 153 mm). La masse des quatre pre- miers orteils, sub-pafallèles sauf le 4e, donne un ensemble compact s'inscrivant à peu près dans un carré. Les griffes des 1er et 2e orteils sont déjetées vers l'intérieur. Celle du 4e paraît absente. Le 5e orteil n'est pas présent. Le coussinet digito-méta-
tarsien V est bien visible et fait avec le 1er rayon un angle de 50° ; sa forme paraît varier en fonction de la taille: allongée sur les grosses empreintes, plus courte relativement et plus épaisse sur les petites. La main est relativement grande par rapport au pied : 1/3,5 pour le type ; le 2e doigt y est le plus long. |
