Taxonomy
Derolytoceras was named by Rosenberg (1909) [Sepkoski's age data: J Sine J Plie-u Sepkoski's reference number: 1066]. It is not extant. Its type is Derolytoceras tortum.

It was reranked as Lytoceras (Derolytoceras) by Hoffmann (2010).

It was assigned to Ammonoidea by Sepkoski (2002); to Lytoceratidae by Wiedmann (1970), Géczy and Meister (1998) and Meister and Friebe (2003); and to Lytoceras by Hoffmann (2010).
