Taxonomy
Chimbuites sinuosocostatus was named by Casey and Glaessner (1958). Its type specimen is Adelaide University F15308, a shell, and it is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Masul Village, Chimbu River, which is in a Cenomanian marine sandstone in Papua New Guinea. It is the type species of Chimbuites.
