Aucellina gryphaeoides

Bivalvia - Pectinida - Buchiidae

Taxonomy
Avicula gryphaeoides was named by Sowerby (1836). It is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Humbleton Quarry, Durham (Sedgwick coll), which is in a Wuchiapingian reef, buildup or bioherm reef rocks in the Ford Formation of the United Kingdom. It is the type species of Aucellina.

It was recombined as Aucellina gryphaeoides by Glaessner (1958) and Wild and Stilwell (2016).
