Tornoceras wunderlichi was named by Bockwinkel and Korn (2015). Its type specimen is MfN MB.C.25120.1, a shell, and it is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Oberberge (Wunderlich collection), which is in a Givetian marine shale in Germany.
