Taxonomy
Arcthoplites birkenmajeri was named by Nagy (1970). Its type specimen is PMO A32860, a shell, and it is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Locality 17, Havkollen, Tromsöbreen, which is in an Albian marine shale in the Carolinefjellet Formation of Svalbard and Jan Mayen.
