Taxonomy
Vascoceras nigeriense was named by Woods (1911). It is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Reme (Falconer collection), which is in a Turonian marine horizon in Nigeria.

It was recombined as Paravascoceras nigeriensis by Meister (1989); it was synonymized subjectively with Vascoceras (Paravascoceras) cauvini by Meister et al. (1992); it was recombined as Pseudovascoceras nigeriense by Gale et al. (2005).
