Hamites annulatus was named by d'Orbigny (1850).

It was recombined as Ancyloceras annulatus by d'Orbigny (1850); it was recombined as Spiroceras annulatum by Besnosov and Mitta (1993), Dietze (2000), Majidifard (2015), Galácz (2017), Mitta (2017).
