Sapheosaurus thiollierei
Taxonomy
Sapheosaurus thiollierei was named by von Meyer (1851). Its type specimen is Museum de Lyon - Gisement: Cerin (Ain) no. 15672 (part) and 15673 (counterpart), a partial skeleton (complete skeleton minus skull), and it is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Bugey, Cerin, which is in a Kimmeridgian lagoonal/restricted shallow subtidal lime mudstone in France.
It was recombined as Piocormus thiollierei by Wagner (1858).
