Taxonomy
Niaftasuchus zekkeli was named by Ivakhnenko (1990). Its type specimen is PIN 3717/36, a partial skull, and it is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Ust'-Nyafta, PIN 3717, Lower Mezen' River, which is in a Kazanian/Urzhumian terrestrial horizon in the Russian Federation.
