Procerithium (Xystrella) protortile was named by Cox (1965). It is a 3D body fossil.

It was recombined as Cryptaulax protortile by Nützel (2002).

Synonyms
  • Cerithium tortile was named by Hebert and Deslongchamps (1860). It is the type species of Cryptaulax.

    It was recombined as Cryptaulax tortile by Tate (1869); it was replaced with Procerithium (Xystrella) protortile by Cox (1965).
