Taxonomy
Cypraea interposita was named by Deshayes (1865). It is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Butte-des-Usages, Cuise-la-Motte (Deshayes collection), which is in a Ypresian carbonate carbonate in the Sables de Pierrefonds Formation of France.

It was recombined as Cypraedia interposita by Dolin and Dolin (1983); it was recombined as Cypraedia (Protocypraedia) interposita by Dolin and Pacaud (2009).
