Polygyreulima was named by Sacco (1892) [Sepkoski's age data: T Eo R]. It is extant. Its type is Eulima intermedia.

It was reranked as Melanella (Polygyreulima) by Glibert (1962), Amitrov (2010).

It was assigned to Neotaenioglossa by Sepkoski (2002); and to Melanella by Glibert (1962), Amitrov (2010).
