Taxonomy
Ophiderpeton vicinum was named by Fritsch (1880). Its type specimen is Orig. no. 109a and is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Kounov, Rakovnik District, which is in a Stephanian B terrestrial siliciclastic in the SlanĂ˝ Formation of Czechia.
It was recombined as Oestocephalus vicinum by Milner (1994).
