Taxonomy
Acanthostrophia acanthica was named by Conti and Fischer (1984). Its type specimen is MAC 6.1, a shell, and it is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Case Canepine, which is in a Bajocian carbonate limestone in the Calcari e Marne a Posidonia Formation of Italy.
