Damesites sugata

Taxonomy

Ammonites sugata was named by Forbes (1846).

It was recombined as Desmoceras sugatum by Anderson (1902); it was recombined as Damesites sugata by Kennedy (1995), Cooper (2003), Shigeta and Maeda (2005), Kennedy and Klinger (2013) and Kennedy (2018).

Synonyms

Desmoceras compactum was named by van Hoepen (1921).

It was recombined as Damesites compactus by Summesberger (1980); it was synonymized subjectively with Damesites sugata by Kennedy and Klinger (2013).
Kotoceras richardsoni was named by Anderson (1958). It is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Asuncion Group - Richardson Ranch (shale), Siskiyou, which is in a Coniacian marine shale in California.

It was synonymized subjectively with Damesites damesi intermedius by Matsumoto (1959); it was synonymized subjectively with Damesites sugata by Cooper (2003).
Kotoceras frazierense was named by Anderson (1958). It is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is CIT loc. 1347, Roaring River, which is in a Turonian/Coniacian marine horizon in the Budden Canyon Formation of California.

It was synonymized subjectively with Damesites damesi intermedius by Matsumoto (1959); it was synonymized subjectively with Damesites sugata by Cooper (2003).
Kotoceras subsugatum was named by Anderson (1958).

It was synonymized subjectively with Damesites sugata by Cooper (2003).
