Taxonomy
Cassis mississippiensis was named by Conrad (1848). It is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Vicksburg, which is in a Rupelian marine marl in the Byram Marl Formation of Mississippi.
It was recombined as Semicassis mississippiensis by Conrad (1865); it was recombined as Phalium (Menthafontia) mississippiensis by MacNeil and Dockery (1984).
