Tibia (Aulacodiscus) was named by Douvillé (1921) [Sepkoski's age data: T Eo]. Its type is Tibia (Aulacodiscus) lissoni.

It was Calyptraphorus (Aulacodiscus) by Olsson (1928); it was reranked as Aulacodiscus by Tapia and Harwood (2002), Sepkoski (2002) and Bandel (2007); it was synonymized subjectively with Calyptraphorus by Hendy et al. (2008).

It was assigned to Tibia by Douvillé (1921); to Calyptraphorus by Olsson (1928); to Aulacodiscaceae by Tapia and Harwood (2002); to Neotaenioglossa by Sepkoski (2002); and to Calyptraphorinae by Bandel (2007).
