Taxonomy
Solarium spiratum was named by Lamarck (1804). It is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Grignon (Defrance collection), which is in a Lutetian open shallow subtidal sandstone/sandstone in France.

It was recombined as Philippia spirata by Newton (1891); it was recombined as Eumargarita (Periaulax) spirata by Cossmann and Pissarro (1902); it was recombined as Solariella (Periaulax) spirata by Le Renard and Pacaud (1995); it was recombined as Periaulax spirata by Schnetler and Heilmann-Clausen (2011).
