Solarium bifrons was named by Lamarck (1804). It is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Grignon (Defrance collection), which is in a Lutetian open shallow subtidal sandstone/sandstone in France.
It was recombined as Omalaxis bifrons by Glibert (1962).
