It was recombined as Pirena ornata by Crosse (1862); it was recombined as Faunus (Melanatria) ornatus by Cossmann (1888); it was recombined as Faunus ornatus by Furon and Soyer (1947); it was recombined as Melanatria ornata by Le Renard and Pacaud (1995), Pacaud and Le Renard (1995); it was recombined as Eginea ornata by Pacaud and Harzhauser (2012).
