Taxonomy
Balcis badenia was named by Laws (1939). It is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Pakaurangi Point, Kaipara Harbour, which is in an Otaian coastal sandstone in the Pakaurangi Formation of New Zealand.
It was recombined as Melanella badenia by Beu et al. (1990).
