Oneotodus was named by Lindström (1955) [Sepkoski's age data: Cm mMid-u O Trem-u Sepkoski's reference number: 213,313,800]. It is not extant.

It was assigned to Protopanderodontidae by Sweet (1988); to Conodontophorida by Sepkoski (2002); and to Oneotodontidae by Pyle and Barnes (2002).
