Cypraea (Eocypraea) rouaulti was named by Cossmann (1923) [Cossmann in O'Gorman & Cossmann 1923
not Eocypraea rouaulti Dolin & Dolin 1983]. Its type specimen is UB1 29-2-85, a shell, and it is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Tuilerie de Gan (O'Gorman collection), which is in a Ypresian offshore shelf marl/claystone in the Marnes de Gan Formation of France.
It was recombined as Eocypraea (Eocypraea) rouaulti by Schilder (1941); it was recombined as Luponovula rouaulti by Dolin and Ledon (2002).
