Taxonomy
Nostoceras (Nostoceras) ellipticum was named by Kennedy (2000). Its type specimen is BMNH C7492-3, a shell, and it is a mold. Its type locality is Mamissa, Djebel Sinjar, level 365, which is in a Campanian deep subtidal limestone in the Shinarish Formation of Iraq.
