Taxonomy
Batropetes niederkirchensis was named by Glienke (2013). Its type specimen is SMNS 55884, a skeleton, and it is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Niederkirchen/Westpfalz, which is in an Asselian lacustrine - large shale in the Meisenheim Formation of Germany.
