Taxonomy
Metacalycoceras tarrantense was named by Adkins (1928) [? = 1926. Acanthoceras rotornagense (Defrance). Scott, Am. Assoc. Petroleum Geologists Bull., vol. 10, no. 6, pl. 22, fig. 1 only ( opp. p. 617) ; no text description. (Fig. 2 is not identifiable from the illustration alone.)].

It was recombined as Acanthoceras tarrantense by Stephenson (1952); it was recombined as Calycoceras (Conlinoceras) tarrantense by Zaborski (1985); it was recombined as Calycoceras tarrantense by Kirkland (1996); it was recombined as Conlinoceras tarrantense by Hook and Cobban (2007).
