Taxonomy
Kitchinites stenomphalus was named by Summesberger (1979). Its type specimen is SK 1978/12, a shell, and it is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Finstergrabenwandl (Skoumal collection), which is in a Santonian shallow subtidal shale in the Hochmoos Formation of Austria.
