Lasanius was named by Traquair (1898) [Sepkoski's age data: S Wenl Sepkoski's reference number: 1066]. It is not extant.

It was assigned to Lasaniidae by Goodrich (1909); to Birkeniiformes by Sepkoski (2002); and to Euphaneropidae by van der Laan (2019).
