Turrilites acuticostatus was named by d'Orbigny (1842). It is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Soulatgé (d'Orbigny collection, gallicus subzone), which is in a Santonian marine marl in France.
It was recombined as Eubostrychoceras acuticostatum by Kennedy (1995).
